Strive After The Wind
04:44
|
|
||
All I fear is my voice in an empty room
Heart to leather righteous will escape her soon
Saw Saul on his knees
God was in a fever dream
And turning to the dark I see
I strive after the wind
We went in a labyrinth
Center’s lost along the sin
(I strive after the wind)
From the fall was it all just in my mind?
Were we born blind?
Infinite grace
Blood pooling on the ice
Eurydice disappeared
Or was never really there
I looked down I laughed and I pretend to cry
Forget how to pray just when about to die
Vague words on all these scars
More beautiful than ours
I strive after the wind
We went in a labyrinth
Center’s lost along the sin
(I strive after the wind)
From the fall was it all just in my mind?
Bravery is blind
I strive after the wind
We went in a labyrinth
(I looked down I laughed and I pretend to cry)
Center’s lost along the sin
(Forget how to pray just when about to die)
From the fall was it all just in my mind?
(Vague words on these scars)
Were we born blind?
(More beautiful than ours)

So Is The Flesh
03:04
|
|
||
My heart, loyal, atones in the dark
Alone in the dark
Once again in the dark
I felt your blood as you said Oh God
On my skin Oh God
How we sin in the dark
Silence sharp enough to kill
(all the wounds were by my hand)
You weren’t a savior in the end yet still
(no need to make amends)
All I’m left are memories
it may have been a myth
we’ve said goodbye so many times
and yet you hardly left
The spirit is willing, but so is the flesh
Silence sharp enough to kill
(in your mouth I whisper a poem)
You weren’t a savior in the end yet still
(you’re the nearest thing to home)

Obstinate Summer
01:39
|
|
||
God has given me over to the impious; into the clutches of the wicked he has cast me. I was in peace, but he dislodged me; he seized me by the neck and dashed me to pieces. He has set me up for a target; his arrows strike me from all directions, He pierces my sides without mercy, he pours out my gall upon the ground. He pierces me with thrust upon thrust; he attacks me like a warrior. I have fastened sackcloth over my skin, and have laid my brow in the dust. My face is inflamed with weeping and there is darkness over my eyes, Although my hands are free from violence, and my prayer is sincere. (Job 16:11-17 NAB)

Ants
03:45
|
|
||
lord do not forgive them
they know what they do
he asks for ants voracious
to burning swell his veins
your mouth to gorge on
sanguinary fruit
taste of metal
moans of pain
in warm life passing
(where else could it go)
through an unhinged flame
lord do not forgive them
they know what they do
he adores plastic oceans
he hates real boats, real rain
taste of metal
moans of pain
smell of ritual
(the ants consume his body beckoned by a soul)
he escapes
(but he'll be back tomorrow aching to be sold)
like a warm life passing
(where else could it go)
through an unhinged flame

Parallel Lines
05:20
|
|
||
You were my past
It started with you.
We watched clouds pass
And glass turn to blue.
Rigid and stark, conquered and grey
The spot in my eye where you still remain
Just kids in the dark misreading signs
Two parallel lines.
God of all weak people. People without a home
Thirty-five years from the steeple, yet never nearly alone
We built barricades, and castles of books
Meanings of space, familial looks
Awake just to dance, and fall back to bed
It’s more than romance, it’s each word you said
Clouds turned to ice, cast back to the fray
It’s no sacrifice, it seems we must stay
Unworried by time
Two parallel lines.
